In one day, a parent might be happy they completed an assignment, but during the same period their baby might have learned to see!   I’d like to ask one of your paediatricians about the developments babies go through that are invisible to us. Also, please feel free to explain or give examples if you can, 20-50 words each.   See movement See colour Hear sound Taste sweet / sour / spicy etc Feel different degrees of pain Feel hot and cold Feel other sensations (itchy, tickly) Understand depth of vision Learn that when they’re unhappy, they are tired / hungry Understand that they are angry, sad, happy Understand when a parent is angry with you, and learn not to do it again Understand how to control parents’ behaviour to you (If you smile, they will smile. If you look upset, they will give you a snack.) Acknowledge other babies Recognise voices Recognise themselves in the mirror Recognise faces Develop memory that lasts over days and weeks Feel the desire to communicate through speech / sound Appreciate differences in force eg you must be gentle when stroking a cat   Are there any other important developments that I’ve missed? (50-100 words)   What advice do you have for parents who want to help their babies in these developments? Are there any activities they can do? How should they interact with the baby?
